Upgrading to 12V air conditioning: Battery & power system advice NEEDED

Wife and I wanna upgrade our Maxx Fan to a 12V direct current air conditioner because it just gets so hot these days. We camp a lot without shore power and believe it to be best to do a Velit 12V direct current since it's cheaper than Dometic. We want to use the van to a maximum because we're on the road a lot and we slept in it so much already! Wow yeah we are living the camper life, we actually spent 214 days last year in the van. We have a siberian husky who's trained and proper. The van is our home now and I know this upgrade is gonna be super rexpensive but not a single worry on that we just want to live our best days. Our Battle Born battery system is 2 x 100 AH and we could add 2 more basedd on Battle Born as long as it's within 2 years of use. Velit would need 100 AH anyway. Should we add 2 more Battle Born or replace all with high-capacity Game Changer of 270 AH each. We also got a solar system that's really good at around 2 x 200W. What do you guys think?

well to me sounds about right, especially the velit 12v upgrade. you can definitely consider adding two more 100 ah battle born batteries especially if you plan to run it over night, so that would be a smart move yeah. your solar system at 2x200 is okay but if you run the ac to longer periods you might wanna consider boosting its capacity. hope this helps

To build on that you might want to look into upgrading your solar controller to handle any extra panels if you boost capacity. Also consider checking the Velit's maximum draw under peak settings to ensure your system stays efficient. Happy camping!

I'm with you on that, extra batteries make a big difference for overnight use. And yep, smart move to check the controller and Velit's peak draw too. Better to dial it in now than chase issues later

I have a 400ah battery setup (2) 200 ah each and 600w solar panels.
Really don't think I could run that AC unit for too long with this setup.
You really have to go big to do it right and you might be disappointed.
Large battery cables, large battery bank, larger solar setup and it can work great for you.
Been looking at the AC unit myself and wish my build out started with it in mind instead of changing everything around now to increase the capacity to run it.
